Don’t forget about how easy it is to give blood too. Yes, this is my semi-annual rant about the importance of blood donation. Just like the right bone marrow match can save Nergal’s life, one person giving blood can save up to three lives. Red blood cells and platelets go directly to cancer patients as well, so keep that in mind. I can’t speak for the whole country, but I know that in New York that we’re always at a shortage because not enough people give. SO GET OUT THERE. Especially if you’re blood type is A negative, B negative, O positive, and MOST especially O negative (not a pun) and you fit the height and weight requirements. These people can gives double red cells, and O negative is the universal red cell type, meaning that ANYONE who needs red cells can receive O negative blood.
