IT AIN’T ALL ABOUT GHOULS AND GOBLINS

October is my favorite month of the year, as is the fall season in general. Halloween is also a given. Last year we did a little hoedown of a bunch of songs to get in the holiday spirit, but this year I’m finding the scary in less obvious places. Behold: some of the eerie songs that have been getting me in the mood for my favorite day of the year:
Besides the fact that I kind of have an inappropriate crush on a man who’s older enough to be my father, Rollins is probably one of the most intelligent anticelebrities out there. Don’t tell me that when he yells at you in “Liar” that you don’t pee your pants a little bit.
It just kinda sounds like it could be part of the soundtrack to a Tim Burton film. Am I wrong? It’s scary, but in a semi “kid friendly” kind of way
This particular Behemoth song will always frighten me because of one bad iPod shuffle experience: Oddly enough, I often fall asleep while listening to metal on my iPod on long car/train/plane rides. One unfortunate time, I had a couple of real mellow songs in a row while on shuffle (some Fiona Apple or Beck or Jewel something I’m sure) and all of a sudden “Slaves Shall Serve” blasts into my ears and speeds my heart rate up to 150. Not fun.
Halloween can be funny too. After all, think of all the people who will be dressing up as the kids from Jersey Shore this year. Is murder funny? No, but what about mermaid murder? Check.
