TAYLOR MOMSEN BLAH BLAH BLAH

By now, I assume most of you have seen the cover of this month’s (and annual “Hottest Chicks in Metal Hard Rock” issue) of Revolver mag. Either you know who Taylor Momsen is or you don’t, but if you’re one of the latter she’s a model turned actress- now turned rock band front not a girl, not yet a woman best known for her role on the TV series Gossip Girl as well as in the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Yes, this is Cindy Lou Who. They grow up so fast…
Anyway, forget being appalled by her presence on the cover for all the usual reasons- I’ve listened to a couple of her songs, watched the videos, heard the “controversies” (oh btw, that sexpot is jailbait fellas), and oddly enough when I look at that cover and think about it, the last emotion that comes to mind is disgust. I think I’d oddly fascinated by her…
It’s one of those things where I feel like I should hate her because she’s young, beautiful, rich and famous while also over-sexed, probably trying to hard to be a rebel and a media over-achiever. But yet, if I was in her shoes at 17 years old… I’d be the exact same way. The music might not be ground-breaking or brutal in the least, I’ve gotta admit that she can sing and she is a little hottie who knows what she’s working with. I guess I’ll buy the album and actually give it a listen- it could be my new guilty pleasure. But I can’t get over how apathetic I am towards her being on the cover of a “hard rock” magazine/being swept into “our” scene.
Could you care less about Taylor Momsen? Or are you just as confused/intrigued as I am?
