AND LITA WAS ALL, NAH UHHHH

The lovely Miss Lita Ford recently did an interview with Rolling Stone and shared her thoughts on the upcoming Runaways bio-pic, Cherry Bomb. We’ve already discussed how I feel about it. The movie stars Twilight’s Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, and a relatively unknown young actress named Scout Taylor-Compton as Ford.
“I just want people to know that I have nothing to do with that film,” Ford clarifies. “Joan’s manager offered to buy the rights to my life story for a thousand bucks. I thought that was pretty disgusting — we never even replied.”
BUUUURRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
According to the rest of the article, Lita & Joan haven’t been too tight these past few years. Yeesh. And since Joan is Executive Producing this damn thing, I can’ t help but feel it will have a very Jett-centric spin on it, while also totally downplaying Lita’s importance in the band. Why else would they pick a well-known celebrity to play her, but not Lita? A little bitter about not being the lead guitarist, perhaps?
So where does the rest of the band sit with this? Well, drummer Sandy West has passed, so no drama there. Bassist Jackie Fox seems to not have commented publicly just yet, so we’ll check back with her. Cherie Currie, on the other hand, seems to be all about it. She’s been going on lunch dates with Dakota Fanning and everything. And if you haven’t checked out the pictures of Dakota in her Cherie get-up, prepare your eyes.
Anyway, Lita is apparently writing some new music. Good for her. This world could use a little more “Kiss Me Deadly,” and a little less “I Love Rock N Roll.” Just sayin’.
