REIGN IN BLONDE FAQ’S

Since we’re all about borrowing ideas in the metal community….we figured we’d also give it a shot.

So…you’re chicks, who like metal?

Quite.

You don’t look like you would like metal.

That’s kind of the idea…

How did you come up with your name?

…really?

Do you two like Slayer?

Why on earth would you think that?

Are you natural blondes?

Sort of.  Both of us were born blonde.  Elise’s hair got darker as she grew older and now dyes it lighter.  Julia’s hair has been about 5 different colors over the past few years, but seems to have settled on blonde.

How tall are you?

Elise is 5’10.  Julia is about 5’8-5’9.

How did you two meet?

You may be surprised to find out that we are not lifelong friends.  We met in the Summer of 2006 at a radio station internship.  The two of us and one other girl were always together because we hated everyone else.  That Summer we saw: Peter Frampton, Sounds of the Underground, and Dragonforce.  We also got free tickets to see Ashlee Simpson.  We were the oldest people there who weren’t parents.  There’s nothin’ like yelling SLAYER in front of a few thousand oblivious 9-year olds.

How did you come up with the idea for the site?

We were going to a Dragonforce show a few days before Thanksgiving of ‘08.  We hadn’t seen each other in a while and we were excited.  Elise had just gotten a new MacBook and wanted to screw around with iMovie.  She shot some video on her little Canon and it turned out pretty funny (despite Elise’s annoying giggles).  We met our (now) good friend Seth that night and he made a joke that he’d be on “boys at random metal shows dot com.”  When we watched this part back the next morning…something clicked.  We’ve always joked about how we stuck out when we go to shows, so it seemed like it would be fun.  (It is!)

How come you don’t have cool pen names?

We discussed it, but ultimately decided not to.  We’re not that cool.

Is Julia that metal mistress chick from Fuse?

No.  When Julia worked for UVTV, she actually went by JJ to avoid such confusion.  Now she’s Julia again, but you can still call her JJ if you want to.  Oh well.

How come you don’t post metal news?

There are 29357690236 other metal websites you can read that shit on.  We sometimes react to stuff that’s going on, but mostly we’ll post things you can only read here.  RiB Originals, if you will.

How come you never write album reviews?

Frankly…they’re boring to read, and they’re boring to write.  Somehow we doubt we’ll sway you into anything, anyway.

How come you don’t interview bands?

We would welcome the opportunity to do so, but only if the band has a good sense of humor.  We much prefer more everyday sort of metalheads.  We’re not those girls that try to ‘hang out with the band.’  We’d rather just listen to them and admire/mock them from afar.

How come you don’t post more pictures/videos of yourselves?

We’re not whores, we’re here to write shit.  Then again, if we never revealed ourselves, you’d all assume we were fatties.  Everything in moderation.

When did you first get into metal?

Not until our teens.  We didn’t pop out of the womb like this.  Sorry.

Are your parents metal?

Not even a little.

What other music do you like?

We like lots of different music besides metal.  Elise likes emo.  Try not to hold it against her.

Do you two live together?

As of now, no.

What do you guys do for a living?

We both have the most comically awful jobs.  We prefer not to talk about them.

Do you guys ever get drunk and make out?

That’s our other website.

Will you have sex with me?

What’s this whole baldies and beardos thing?

We prefer these things on men: Elise and Julia, respectively.  We consider other types as well.  It’s just shtick.

Totally.  Just ask all zero of the dudes we’ve fucked since starting it.

Whatever happened to that New Years Eve video you had?

It has been removed from the interwebs, completely.  Elise took it down because “it was just a video of her….drunk,” and was embarassed.  If you saw it, good for you.  If you didn’t, you probably never will.

Will you listen to my band?

Send us whatever you have.  We’ll probably listen, but can’t say for sure if we’ll write about you.

Will you put my site on your blogroll?

If it means that much to you.

Why do you always make fun of Luminis?

Umm…have you heard them?  Major LOLZ.  We’re convinced they’ll get signed because of us.

If I see you at a show, would it be creepy to come say ‘Hi!’ to you?

Not at all.  Just don’t run up to us in a drunken stupor.  We will probably just ignore you.  Just be nice..and don’t follow us home.
