WUSSY WEDNESDAY - 8/12/09

I tell ya, kids.  I have never owned an item of clothing that has started more conversations than my Tom Jones t-shirt.  At the Pig Destroyer show (almost 2 weeks ago, now), Julia and I ran into some of the dudes outside the venue, who of course, questioned my motives:  “Is that meant to be…ironic?” To set the record straight, NO.  I absolutely love Tom Jones!

The guys asked if I liked any other music from that era.  I told them I was also into Elvis and Ricky Nelson.  “Oh!  I just saw him with Bob Dylan!” Confusion immediately came over me, since, Ricky Nelson is dead, and has been for quite a while.  I soon realized he was referring to Willie Nelson.  Oof.  These are two people we should never mix up.

And so, my musical brethren.  I would like to introduce you to Ricky Nelson and his 1961 hit “Travelin’ Man.”  One of the few songs in history that my mother and I both enjoy immensely.  The 60’s seemed like such a simpler time, no?
