A ROCKIN’ ROMANCE?
FYI: Any movie whose trailer begins with a twee-riffic actress declaring her love for The Smiths….is not a movie for me.
This weekend I came across an article from the LA Times about the “indie hit,” 500 Days of Summer. The key point, being:
“We always felt that every relationship has a soundtrack,” said Scott Neustadter, who co-wrote the film with Michael H. Weber. “Music plays a role in any kind of relationship, and it would not have been as real-feeling if we didn’t acknowledge that.”
I, myself, don’t quite relate to this. I have never dated anyone (not seriously, anyway) who shared my musical interests. I really have no explanation for this, it’s just never happened. Thinking back through my “roster,” I had a jazz musician, a Linkin Park superfan, and my last boyfriend….who used to make fun of my Faith No More t-shirt. Jeez, how did I not know these were doomed?
And so I ask you, loyal readers: what br00tal jams have you and your loved ones bonded over? Have you ever overheard someone’s headphones on the subway or on an elevator and thought…I HAVE TO TALK TO THIS PERSON! Or have you, too, been putting up with crappy taste?
