QUEENS OF THE NECK AGE

I’m a bit sleepy this morning from last night’s Them Crooked Vultures extravaganza at Roseland Ballroom. I’ve never paid so much money to see a band I’ve never actually heard before, but the thought of seeing LEGENDS!…..IN!…..CONCERT! was pretty exciting for me. The most legendary of them all? Dave Grohl’s fat neck. Look at that thing. Lugging it up on the stage was probably the reason they started 15 minutes later than scheduled. Poor necklace :( [<3 you Dave.]
Them Crooked Vultures are basically new classic rock. Josh Homme danced around like dorky white boy…John Paul Jones was groovin’, and at one point, busted out a sweet KEYTAR….and Dave banged it out just as well as he ever did. Major cuteness points for the loving stares Grohl shot at JPJ during the entire set. You could tell he was so humbled to be on stage with him.
Overall, I’d say I was more excited about who I was seeing, than what I was listening to. TCV aren’t quite an A+ band, but perhaps a solid B-. I’m pretty sure I will give the album a listen once it’s actually out, but it’s safe to say I’d still rather hear Zeppelin, or Queens of the Stone Age, or Foo Fighters circa ‘96/’97.
At least it’s better than new Foo Fighters.
