SO UHH……DOES ANYONE STILL CARE ABOUT THE MARS VOLTA?
While skimming my list of ‘09 releases I have yet to listen to, I noticed The Mars Volta’s Octahedron. Damn. I remember several years ago being so excited when I heard the dudes from At the Drive-In had a new band. De-Loused in the Comatorium was, as I say, the jam. I had lukewarm feelings about Frances the Mute. (Too space-y.) Now, I’ve realized I haven’t listened to a gosh darn thing they’ve done since then. That might be, in part, because it seems like no one ever even really talks about them, anymore. Or maybe my eyes have just glazed over anything written on them..? I’m not sure. But am I sleeping on something good here? Are they still good? Or am I not missing out on anything?
At any rate, it’s safe to say that they’ve lose momentum. The only sure-fire for them to get really noticed again would be an At the Drive-In reunion. But, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen any time soon… Sigh.
With that, I will leave you with a funny live video of At the Drive-In from 2001. “Enfilade” is probably my favorite song by them.
WE WANNA SEE YOUR ASS!
