YAYYYY SPORTS!: WHY FOOTBALL IS MORE METAL THAN BASKETBALL

I find that most metalheads aren’t that into sports. Truth be told, I’m not that into sports either, but I do like college football and basketball- It helps when your college team is actually good at them (we’re still working on the football though; baby steps.)
Since I try to go to as many SU games as I can, I’ve noticed that both sports have their metal moments, but one sport comes out on top as the most brutal college game.
Football reigns supreme in the brutal sports world. Here’s my analysis of why:
THE GAME ITSELF: Yeah, there’s some physical contact in basketball too, but not nearly as crazy as their is in football. And although it was short-lived, football did have the XFL, with team names like the Orlando RAGE and the San Francisco DEMONS. The padding alone in football could double as the underlay of any GWAR costume.
THE MUSIC: Like I said once before, it’s not like you go to a game and Behemoth blasts over the speakers, but the music at most football games isn’t that bad. Basketball? At least thus far at The Dome I’ve heard nothing but hip hop and pop. AND GOD DAMNIT, what is so special about this Ke$ha chick? I don’t get it. :(
IS IT OVER YET?: Personally, I enjoy basketball much more than football. Mostly because it’s a much shorter game. Football is just TOO LONG. I could see a metal show with 5 bands on the bill in the time it takes to sit and watch a football game, and it would be MUCH more entertaining. Sitting for 4 and a half hours on a metal bench with no support? Brutal.
Tonight we play Georgetown. Part of me feels like a doofus for being a metalhead that likes college ball, but I can’t be alone in this, right? And by the way, for those of you who care to defend BASEBALL… well, look no further.
