TWILIGHT IS SO NOT METAL, BLACK TIDE AGREES

Just when I was starting to think that I might be the only person on the planet that couldn’t give two shits about the Twilight “saga” (I had my vampire phase about 10 years ago with a little show call Buffy the Vampire Slayer… BUFFY RULES) Zakk Sandler of Black Tide speaks out against it too.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that a movie is in the works about the life of Kurt Cobain (Courtney’s got to squeeze every penny out of him that she can) and rumored to play the part of our dear old Kurt is none other than Twilight star and teen/tween heartthrob Robert Pattinson. Like many of us, Zakk wasn’t so happy about that choice and took to the interwebs to vent, saying:

“I will personally be boycotting this movie as if it were a re-imagining of WWII, where Hitler wins… Gary Oldman playing Sid Vicious, Val Kilmer playing Jim Morrison, even Johnny Depp playing the great Hunter S. Thompson [were] all suitable choices and almost perfect to some aspect. When you see them, you can’t even imagine anybody else becoming these icons. Icon is the only word to describe the next rock star that Hollywood is about to make a film about. He was the ’90s martyr to fame and fortune… The thought of some teen heartthrob coming along and ruining the image of a rock ‘n’ roll icon is horrifying to say the least. It’s some major studio looking to make a buck of the hot minute actor’s success and get all of the teens that follow ‘Twilight’ to buy into seeing him destroy the image we all grew to love of Kurt Cobain.”

You tell ‘em Zakky! While I can’t come up with my own opinion of who WOULD be perfect for the part yet, Zakk suggests Jared Leto or Emilie Hirsch. In the meantime, I’m just gonna sit here and hope it’s not as boring as the psuedo-Cobain film Last Days.
