LEWD ACTS ARE HAZARDOUS TO MY HEALTH
Every hardcore kid in the tri-state area was giggling like a school girl about Converge’s latest touring stint, which hit New York this past Thursday night. All acts on the bill just did a series of dates opening for Thursday, and were now continuing on for some smaller shows without the emo d00dz.
Black Breath proved to be some of the coolest new kids on the block. (The guy standing behind me would not STFU about how “sick” their new album is. (It is.)) Touche Amore managed to rock the sold out club just fine, despite not appearing to have gone through puberty yet. Converge were a kick in the face, as they normally are. But the highlight of my oh-so-sweaty evening was none other than crusty hardcore punk-ers Lewd Acts. More specifically….their singer, Tyler Densley.
Now, I had never listened to this band prior to this evening, so I’ve definitely never talked shit about them on here before or anything. But I think Mr. Densley has some sort of beef with me. Two times throughout their set, he leapt into the crowd, landing smack on the ground, and continued to wiggle about, finding his way over to me both times. The second time, homeboy was right on my ankles. I flipped out for a sec and struggled to get away, as if I was being pulled in by quicksand. I found my way to a corner, and he found himself outside the emergency exit door. It was all just very…strange. Not to mention distracting. I couldn’t really concentrate on listening to the music with all that nonsense going on. But they definitely have stage presence…and offstage presence. This picture from Brooklyn Vegan pretty much sums it all up:

See more here. Have you ever been “attacked” by a band?

P.S. Lewd Acts recently announced they are dropping off the rest of the tour. Anybody know whaddup wit dat?
