METAL’S ODD COUPLES- TOUR EDITION

Every so often tour announcements will be made that make you say “HOORAY!” and dance around your living room. And then there are times where you see an impeding tour that makes you just scratch your head in bewilderment. 

Demon Hunter just announced the support for their upcoming True Defiance tour and it’s none other than Cancer Bats and Bleeding Through. Now, here’s the thing:

Cancer Bats and Bleeding Through together on tour= not that weird. In fact, I’ve already seen them on tour together 4 or 5 years ago. (PS, do people still care about Bleeding Through? No offense but I haven’t heard any talk of them in a hot minute. Did Marta get fat or something?) But Cancer Bats, Bleeding Through AND Demon Hunter just seems a little odd to me. You know cause Demon Hunter is all “white” metal and shit and the other two… aren’t. It kinda the same feeling I had when Kittie went on that ICP/Coolio tour a summer or two ago. What was up with that?

Have you seen any weird tour pairings lately? How did that turn out? What kind of metal pairing do you think would cause the Earth to melt into itself?

CANCER BATS SABOTAGE THEMSELVES

It’s been a while since I’ve heard from Cancer Bats. Elise and I saw them in NYC a couple summers ago, and all I remember is them saying they were from Canada way too much.

It looks like they decided to make their own cover of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” and I can’t figure out whether they’re trying to be serious or funny. If they’re being funny, then that’s all it is, if they want to be taken seriously, they failed. I get really excited about covers, but most of the time I’m disappointed, and this time is no different. It sounds pretty much like the original except with angrier vocals That’s it.

It’s good to see that the dad from the Cyndi Lauper “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” video still gets work these days though.
